Matthew Ingalls, one of the central figures in the “Cornell 7” sexual assault allegations, claimed to university officials that he was an incapacitated victim during the 2024 incident. According to investigative documents obtained by ABC News, Ingalls sent a February 2025 email to Cornell’s Title IX office accusing administrators of gender discrimination and failing to protect his rights as an assault survivor. The records emerge alongside evidence that Chi Phi members scrambled to coordinate their stories, attempting to frame the encounter as consensual to protect the chapter’s reputation. Cornell expelled Ingalls and another fraternity brother after an internal investigation found them responsible for sexual assault. While local prosecutors initially declined to file criminal charges, the case is currently under renewed review following the release of internal fraternity text messages in a civil lawsuit.
