According to attorney Thomas Giuffra, Cornell refused to return tuition payments after Jane Doe sought to leave campus following an alleged October 2024 assault. Speaking on CNN, Giuffra stated that Doe wanted to return home to heal, but administrators rejected her parents’ request for a refund and told her she had to stay enrolled. Because the university would not return the funds, Doe remained on campus for an entire semester. During that time, Giuffra stated that she regularly ran into the men she accused. Cornell previously stated that it issued temporary suspensions and disciplinary sanctions against the accused students, but the university has not publicly released records regarding the family’s denied refund request.
